Matt Windrem
DIVISION CHIEF, EMS
Matt Windrem has amassed 25 years of experience in emergency services, with over 20 years as a licensed paramedic serving public and private EMS providers. Currently, Chief Windrem holds the position of EMS Division Chief for SCFD, where he shoulders responsibilities such as managing emergency medical response and transport services, overseeing continuous quality improvement, and leading EMS education initiatives, among other duties. Moreover, he represents SCFD as a member of the Advisory Committee on Emergency Medical Care for Santa Rosa Junior College.
Before joining SCFD, Chief Windrem spent more than two decades with the City of San Rafael Fire Department. He commenced his career as a firefighter/paramedic and eventually progressed to the role of Battalion Chief. During his tenure at San Rafael, he supervised a pilot project aimed at developing alternative service delivery methods for high users of EMS. In this capacity, he held responsibility for all aspects of the EMS system, including approximately 60 paramedics and ten EMTs.
In his current role, Chief Windrem remains actively engaged in daily system operations, particularly in facilitating the interface and interaction between SCFD and MEDIC.
